Holocaust victims in Krasnostav
The Krasnostav massacre is a typical story about what happened to Jews throughout Ukraine in 1941-1944. The project’s goal are twofold: widen public awareness of the genocide of the Jewish population in Ukraine and to compile material to find victims’ name and details of their execution.
The project aims also to find and contact the descendants of the Krasnostav Jewish population and collect detailed information about the massacre, including letters and other written materials. |
The documentary “The Road to Krasnostav” and Donna Rubinstein’s memoirs “I am Only Survivor of Krasnostav” are great tools to stimulate public awareness about “Holocaust by Bullets” in Ukraine. The intimate details and human response to tragic circumstances presented in both works will engage viewers and readers emotionally so they are able to feel the totality of destruction of Jewish life in Ukraine. We intend to promote online distribution of the book and the film, and its offline screening.
We have to educate young generations about self-destruction brought by hatred and intolerance, and teach them that no progress or prosperity can be achieved through mass killing and eradication of other cultures.
Documentary “The Road to Krasnostav” is just one small window into the lives of people affected by such tragedy. We hope that it will serve as a portal to widening awareness of genocide not just among those who remember the past, but those who will create our future.
